OR, if you’re an Advanced Clinician/Practitioner seeking mentoring and support to Launch & Lead your own Consultation Group,

our Mentor Group includes unique Behind The Scenes details & disclosures from Laura’s wealth of experiences launching and leading dozens of groups over the years. You’ll also have direct access for Laura to work directly with your parts and witness her work with colleagues.

If you’re ready to take this leap or already have, this group is for you!

I look forward to supporting you in your courage and vision, and sharing my insights and lessons gained from launching and leading dozens of consultation groups with hundreds of group members the past five years.

👉🏼 Get all your practical, logistical, behind the scenes (BTS) questions answered

👉🏼 Tend to the parts that may be intimidated and excited by this endeavor

👉🏼 Connect and workshop with colleagues with similar questions 👉🏼 Get the support and mentorship you need –whether you’re just getting started lauching or already leading them. There are so many details to consider and manage, as many of you already know!

🔹 The group starts (first 1/3 at most) focusing on your internal system (meditation, group check in, me working with your parts) then shifts (later 2/3 at least) to external logistics, discussion/teaching of BTS details, Q&A, workshopping/application.

🔹 Each month builds on previous months and incorporates what group members bring to the conversation to work with.

I’m excited to share some of my lessons leading dozens of online clinical consultation groups with hundreds of students the past five years! I’ve been right where you are!

Join my Interest List to be the FIRST to receive Registration Updates or notice if a seat becomes available in an existing group.

DETAILS FOR SPRING ’24 LEVEL 1-3  & MENTORING GROUPS  COMING SOON

Join us as we pause together, welcome your hard-working Healer parts and tend to your IFS questions and challenges. You’ll unblend from and befriend parts and deepen your experience and confidence integrating the Model into your work and life.

The more Self led you are, the greater ease and spaciousness you will embody, and the more effective you will be!

My 25 years as a family systems psychotherapist and supervisor motivate me to offer fellow healers the connection, support and teaching so vital to our demanding work. I have supervised MFTs and IFS Professionals since 2014 and have consulted over 180 students.

Consultation groups are about building community and continuity, offering a safe container for you to share your clinical questions, vulnerabilities and victories. You are not alone in your clinical challenges. And, we can’t do this important work alone, in isolation. I’m committed to providing you and your hard-working internal system the support, teaching and connection it deserves.

All live (not recorded) consultation hours count towards Certification (in groups 6 or fewer) and Re-Certification.

Small Group Experience, Clinical Consultation & Community

Direct access to Laura’s experience & a vibrant community of colleagues from around the country and globe

Group members must have active clinical caseloads, which provide the trailheads for our work together. Members present at least 1 case for consultation during their Set.

Group hours count towards IFS Certification or Re-Certification in groups of 6 or fewer students, per new IFSI Requirements. IFS CE hours are pending approval.

Group recordings are available if you miss a meeting (but don’t count towards Certification).

A few partial scholarships are available each Set to individuals experiencing financial hardship, who belong to an under-represented group or are facing US$ exchange rate blues. If you would like to apply for a scholarship please email Laura and describe your situation in a few sentences. We will let you know if a scholarship is available.

I appreciate the financial, scheduling, and emotional commitment of registering for a group. Some students join a group for the Certification hours. Others register once, twice or repeatedly after experiencing the value and importance of this community for supporting their ongoing professional and personal development. Students build the commitment into their monthly schedule and business expenses and discover that investing less than $200 per month into this experience is time and money well spent.

 Groups include: Guided Meditation,
Group Process, Case Consultation, Q&A, Didactic Teaching, Experientials, Live Brief Demos

  • Increase your IFS Confidence, Competence, and Self-energy.
  • Unblend from and Befriend your Caregiver/Helper Parts.
  • Reduce burnout, isolation, and clinical overwhelm.

Consult Group Meditation:
Befriending our Hard-working Protectors

“Laura’s consult group has been a wonderful addition to my circle of support. I feel safe with Laura at the helm and I highly recommend her groups to my fellow IFS therapists or practitioners. If you are practicing without peer support you are really missing out. Getting feedback from up to 8 others on challenges you are having is incredibly helpful and heart-opening. I have a part that thinks he doesn’t need support. This group has proven him wrong.”

~Everett Considine, Certified Level 3 IFS Practitioner and Co-author of “ReZoom” from Bright Line Eating

“Laura so naturally creates this safe, sacred space which invites the group to really drop in deeply and bypass any masky pretenses and connect with real treasure both for our psychotherapy parts but most of all for the nourishment of ourselves as a whole.  I walked away with immediate support in using IFS with my clients and also feel rejuvenated, so I’m bringing more Self energy to my clients (and my family and friends and life). I feel honored to sing the praises of Laura and this gorgeous offering.”

~ Shimila Keenum, LCSW

Two students reflect after Laura worked with Nancy’s blended “Worker” part who worries Nancy will “do it wrong” in session:

Laura Schmidt, LMFT

I’ve worked as a family systems therapist for over 25 years—from Syracuse, NY, to Spokane, WA. I’m deeply committed to doing my own internal work and supporting healing professionals to become more self-aware, proficient, inclusive and ethical.

As an Approved Internal Family Systems (IFS) Clinical Consultant and AAMFT Approved Supervisor, I maintain a private practice, lead international online clinical consultation groups, and in-person workshops and retreats. I’ve worked with nearly 200 consultees spanning 23 countries and 19 time zones in my online groups the past five years.

My IFS foundation was built working individually with IFS Founder, Dr. Richard Schwartz, in 2008. I maintain my own regular therapy and supervision with IFS Lead Trainers, assist in IFS Level 1 & 2 trainings, have co-facilitated an eating disorder consultation group with Lead Trainer, Mary Kruger, LMFT, since 2018, and served as sole Faculty Assistant to Dick Schwartz at the Cape Cod Institute in 2021 and 2022.

My career as a therapist began as a Wilderness Instructor in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. After shifting to indoor, sedentary clinical work with families impacted by sexual trauma and disordered eating, I found myself burned out and discouraged after a decade.  Fortunately, discovering IFS in 2008 kept me in the field, as my caregiving parts learned to relax and trust my Self to lead and heal.

IFS and Mindful Self Compassion practices also carried me through a bewildering decade recovering from an invisible traumatic brain injury and navigating the chronic challenges of another hidden health issue, rheumatoid arthritis. My familiarity with long-term social isolation and remote learning became the catalyst to expand my professional focus to serve a wider, global IFS community online.

I identify as a white, cis, hetero, married, childfree woman. I’m able-bodied, a U.S. citizen, native English speaker, second language German speaker and have socio-economic stability. I’m committed to DEI through reflective awareness, ongoing conversations, and taking responsibility for my undeserved privileges.

As a lifelong athlete and former professional road cyclist, I replenish year-round adventuring in nature. My Managers most fully relax off the grid, and I bring that renewed Self energy to my clients, groups and teaching.

Students say they appreciate my energy, presence, vulnerability and the connection and safety I create in my groups. I’ve lived throughout the US, Canada, Germany and call Eastern Washington home, unceded land of the Spokane tribe, Children of the Sun.

I look forward to working with you soon!
